RA Shift Supervisor

Summary

This position is responsible for supervising resident assistants and coordinating personal care provided to residents. The employee must be able to perform all duties of a resident assistant including protective oversight of residents, hospitality, customer service, etc. Incumbent employee will also assist with laundry, food service, activities, and housekeeping as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Employee must have regular attendance/punctuality, be able to cooperate with others, and be completely honest. Other assigned duties include:
1. Preparing work schedules, evaluations, disciplinary actions, hiring paperwork, and terminations.
2. Talking to doctors and family members to coordinate personal care plan, medication administration, etc.
3. Providing general oversight and supervision to Resident Assistants, including coordinating duties on the assigned shift.
4. Training new staff on department policies and procedures.
5. Facilitating team meetings.
6. Taking the lead in emergency situations.
7. Administer medications and document as necessary.
8. Maintaining personal care competencies.
9. Fulfilling, promoting, and leading others in carrying out the philosophy of The Commons Pledge.
10. Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position is responsible for supervising resident assistants. Supervision includes assigning and scheduling work, training personnel, appraising work performance, as well as interviewing and hiring.

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and /or ability required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and three to six months related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience must include demonstrated leadership, problem solving, conflict resolution skills, as well as the ability to perform the essential duties of a resident assistant.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS PREFERRED:
Education: QMAP, First Aide/CPR; or current Certified Nurses Aide (C.N.A.)
Experience: 1 year or more consecutive experience in a supervisory position; experience with scheduling, payroll, and training new employees.
Special Skills: 1 year or more hospice related experience; 3 months or more experience in a geriatric setting; proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Outlook, etc.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, as well as Hilltop and program specific policies and procedures. Must be able to write routine documentation as required. Must be able to verbally communicate effectively with clients and co-workers.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Must be able to add and subtract two digit numbers, and to multiply and divide by 10’s and 100’s. Must be able to perform these operations using units of American money, weight measurements, volume measurement, and distance. Must be able to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situation where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
